GUEST INFORMATION

If you are a guest of a member, we are delighted to welcome you to Spring Brook.

Spring Brook Country Club, “The gem in the heart of Morristown”  was incorporated on June 1, 1921 by a group of Morristown business men who shared a love of sport and friendship. It was constructed on approximately 180 acres of land leased from Robert Dumont Foote, President of National Iron Bank and one of Morris County’s wealthiest residents. The original golf course was designed by golf legend Walter J. Travis and was formally opened for play July 4, 1922.  The clubhouse was opened September 27, 1922 and contained $4,000 in furnishings including a Chickering piano, and numerous items donated by the Foote family.  The initial meeting of members in the clubhouse was conducted April 23, 1923 at which time the Club’s By-Laws were adopted. The following month, Spring Brook became a member of the New Jersey State Golf Association, the Metropolitan Golf Association and the U.S. Golf Association.  On September 11, 1923, trap shooting pits and the Club’s first tennis courts were open to members.  Rich in history and tradition, Spring Brook has hosted numerous Professional and Amateur Tournaments over the years, including the New Jersey State Open in 1955, 1958, 1965, 1973, 2010 and 2021.

Today, Spring Brook offers a 25,000 square foot Clubhouse with panoramic views of the golf course from its numerous dining rooms and terraces.  The 18 hole championship golf course features The Gauntlet, Spring Brook's three consecutive par 3's surrounding Armstrong Pond. A practice facility, putting green and indoor performance center further enhance the Club's golf program.  Spring Brook's Racquets Facility offers Har-Tru tennis courts, paddle and pickleball courts, as well as a Racquets Hut for indoor activities. The Club's new Pool Facility, with its competition size swimming pool, pool house and open air Dining Pavilion, with a full service kitchen and dedicated bar, is a popular gathering place all summer long.  In addition to its outstanding sports venues, Spring Brook offers its members a wide variety of social and holiday events year round. From its early days to the present, Spring Brook has been dedicated to providing programs and activities for the enjoyment and edification of its members, preserving its finest traditions, and adding new ones with each new generation of members.

  • Pace of Play
    • Maintaining the proper speed of play is essential for all players to have an enjoyable round at Spring Brook Country Club.

Guests should play the tees that are appropriate for their handicaps.

The Golf Committee has established a pace of play policy, play should take less than 2 hours for 9 holes and less than 4 hours for 18 holes. It is expected that all players will play "hit when ready" golf to maintain the pace guidelines. It is a group's responsibility to keep up with the group in front of them.

  • Course Etiquette
    • Check-in Policy:
Upon arrival, you are requested to drop off your golf clubs at the bag drop  located outside the  Pro Shop.  Please identify yourself and advise one of our golf staff members who your member host is for the day.  We will assist you with your golf clubs and direct you to the locker room.

      Course Etiquette:
One of Spring Brook’s most important traditions is maintaining the golf course to championship conditions.  Please replace divots, repair ball marks on the greens, rake bunkers, and knock the sand off your shoes when exiting a bunker.  On days when practice at the Driving Range is from the mats only, please do not go forward to hit off the grass.

Please observe the following policies when playing the Spring Brook golf course:
Allow a group to play through when a hole in front is open.
Use carts in a careful manner.
Do not take practice shots or swings at times when the following group is ready to hit their next shot.

      Lightning Policy:
Spring Brook County Club has installed an Electric Storm Identification System (ESID) to help warn golfers  of impending storms. This system will work in conjunction with a golf course alert system. This equipment does not in any way protect golfers from being struck by lightning. What it does is detect oncoming lightning at approximately 10 and 5 mile intervals. An electric storm at approximately 10 miles from the Club will activate an alarm that will be heard on the Club grounds. This automated system will be active from 6:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. each day. When you hear a loud, continuous high-low tone (alarm) while on the golf course or on other areas of club grounds, it is a mandatory rule that all golfers and caddies cease golf play and seek proper shelter. NO EXCEPTIONS! In addition, all other outdoor activities, including: swimming, tennis, valet service must cease and appropriate shelter taken. When the storm has passed to a safe distance from the Club, an "all clear" tone will automatically be sounded by the ESID system. This sound is noticeable by its intermittent low sound. Golf Play and All Other Outdoor Activities may not resume until the All -Clear Siren has been sounded.
  • Caddies
    • The caddie experience is a long-standing tradition at Spring Brook Country Club. Spring Brook has a tradition of utilizing caddies, and we want to continue that tradition and encourage members to walk if they are able. All players are expected to use caddies, when available, for either carrying their clubs or as a forecaddie when utilizing a cart.

Caddies are not employees of the club. As independent contractors, who work directly for the membership; it is their responsibility to meet your golf experience expectations.

  • Tipping
    • Spring Brook Country Club has a no-tipping policy that covers all employees, except the Locker Room Attendants, Golf Course Beverage Servers, Golf Bag Room Attendants, and Valet. Tipping is appropriate for caddies who are not Club employees.

  • Smoking
    • Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the Clubhouse.
